The
Paper Negative
Bleak
Beauty, Bernalillo, New Mexico, 1980. 11 by 8, 64 pages, duotones
and color throughout with text.
This is Bleak Beauty's first publication, long out of print, with
text by and pictures by Lyon and designed by Guy Russell. Lyon and
Russell would go on to make five picture books together. The thinly
fictionalized text tells the story of NEA grant winner Christopher
Leonne, who takes his NEA grant to a whore house in Colombia. The
pictures are Lyon's work in Colombia, Mexico and his new home, Bernalillo
and the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico. A few signed copies are
available direct from Bleak Beauty. First edition, signed, $200.00
plus $3.00 shipping. By check or money order only, Bleak Beauty,
67 Barclay Road, Clintondale, NY, 12515.
